The Story Foraging Coverall
Hi, I’m Dina Rashid, founder of TickOffTicks, based in Toronto, Canada.
My journey into tick safety began when I joined the board of the Mycological Society of Toronto. During mushroom forays, tick education was always part of the conversation, and I quickly became fascinated by prevention. What started as curiosity turned into deep research, conversations with experts, and eventually becoming a go-to resource for tick bite prevention within the community.
As I learned more, I discovered that many existing solutions relied on insecticide-treated clothing. I wanted another option — something thoughtful, practical, and designed for real outdoor life.
That idea became TickOffTicks.
I set out to create a tick suit people would actually want to wear: functional, comfortable, and yes — fashion-forward. A design-first approach to prevention that helps stop ticks before they reach skin while giving people the flexibility to choose how they use repellent.
That mission recently led me to pitch TickOffTicks on Dragon’s Den Canada, where I shared my goal of raising awareness about tick-borne disease and giving people more prevention choices.
Today, TickOffTicks is built for anyone who loves being outside — whether you’re foraging, hiking, gardening, camping, or working in the field. My hope is simple: to help people feel confident, protected, and free to enjoy the outdoors again.
Frequently Asked Questions
'Spray Me' Zones
Over time, the 'Spray Me' zones may change color due to repellent application—embrace the evolving camo effect as a sign of well-used protection!
Please do not use insect repellent containing DEET, it will eat through the fabric composition.
Does this replace bug spray?
TickOffTicks coveralls are designed to help keep ticks out through smart design — they don’t replace tick repellent. Instead of spraying your entire outfit, the coveralls help you apply repellent more strategically. Adding repellent to the marked Spray Me zones creates a targeted, layered approach to tick protection.
Do the Tick-Kits come with the TOT Foraging Coverall?
No, tick kits are sold separately. They cost $12 plus tax/shipping when purchased alone. However, when bought with a TOT Foraging Coverall, they are $10 plus tax with no additional shipping cost.
How can I add extra protection?
Use the D-rings for attaching handkerchiefs or other fabric items that can be sprayed with insect repellent, adding an extra barrier against ticks.
For maximum protection, wear long socks over the 'spray me' zones and reapply repellent to your socks for added defense.
How Do I Care for my Coverall?
Think of it like a coat—it doesn’t need to be washed after every use. When cleaning is necessary:
- Machine wash in cold water with a mild detergent.
- Avoid bleach and fabric softeners, as they can weaken the fabric.
- Hang to dry to maintain durability and shape.
- Do not use DEET-based insect repellents, as they may degrade the fabric.
Is this a Canadian company?
Yes! We are proudly based in Toronto, Ontario, and committed to creating solutions for outdoor enthusiasts in Canada and beyond.
Can I layer clothing underneath?
Yes! The TOT Foraging Coverall is designed with a relaxed fit, allowing you to layer lightweight clothing underneath for added warmth or comfort. Just ensure a snug fit around the wrists and ankles to maintain tick protection.
